Usually the typical idea we have of alchemy is an alchemist who tries to transform gold out of primal matter. They have tools, potions, and recipes and try endlessly to hopefully attain gold. Although gold was thought to hold the highest value, I believe the process of the transformation of materials, the alchemical path, is worth more than the end result.

Through my art and usage of symbols, I try to speak to the transformative process every person feels throughout their life. More often than not, we don't realize we are transforming and haven't found our rhythm the universe has laid out for us. It can be a difficult path sprinkled with disasters and frustration. However, there are signs offered to us along the way and if we can trust in the process of transformation and proceed with care, we are rewarded and can harvest the fruits of our labor.
I am interested in purely the process of transition and transformation and the value it has in our life. Without transformation, we would not grow and I am not convinced we are stagnant beings that are destined to sleepwalk through life. We can be so much more, better, like gold.

Using ancient alchemical and astrological symbols, animals and color, I feel I have developed my own language that is relevant to anyone in today's modern world. Like the alchemist that has to learn the properties of every metal and how to control heat and energy during its transformation, we, too, have to learn who the people are in our lives and learn to control our passions in the transformative process of life.

The universe is filled with symbols and signs that are easily missed by the constant chatter of the mind and the constant rhythm of every day life. But if you could take a sort of snapshot in time, and have these symbols shown to you, like in my paintings, perhaps you could understand, the path you are on is right for you and will lead you to to your heart's gold.
